Rest and Reconnect with Nature

June 26th - june 28th
Ojai, CA, USA

This is an inviation unplug from the fast pace and noise of everyday life and to gather with friends and community. To feel not only the power of ceremony and music, but be held by the land.

Nestled high in the Ojai Valley, an unusual east–west valley whose mountains are painted pink at sunset, to us this valley is more than a place: it’s a sanctuary.

Ojai is literally tied to the moon, as its name comes from the Chumash word meaning “moon” and long called the “Valley of the Moon.”  Because it runs east to west, you can observe the moon rise at one end of the valley and set at the other, and the shape of the land makes the moon's journey somehow feel slower and more visible.

For generations, Ojai has been home to teachers, artists and spiritual seekers, most noteably J. Krishnamurti and Krotona, The Theosphical society.

This retreat will offer you the opportunity to be nestled on a secluded mountaintop property in the upper Ojai valley, surrounded by open fields shaded by towering oaks. There is room to roam during the day and a scenic ridge that overlooks the ocean and stretches all the way out to the Channel Islands.

And yes—this is a camping event, the elevated kind. Bring your RV, your coziest setup, your best bedding, and lanterns. It’s simple comfort, beautiful natural surroundings, and the kind of space that lets you actually exhale. (Participants can also choose to sleep in the maloca space).

All meals will be fully catered, so you can relax and not think about cooking or planning food. Expect really good, organic meals that are nourishing and genuinely delicious.

About the event

For this retreat we will be working with the sacred grandfather medicine of Huachuma.

At its core, Huachuma is often described as a medicine of clarity. It gently “cleans the windshield” of perception, allowing individuals to see themselves and the world with greater honesty and openness. Huachuma tends to sharpen and brighten awareness while quieting the inner critic, creating a state of calm, grounded presence.

Emotionally and spiritually, Huachuma is known as a heart-opening medicine. It supports balance, harmony, and reconciliation—both within oneself and in relationship to others and the natural world. Many who work with it report a deep sense of connection to nature, often feeling that the boundary between self and environment softens or dissolves.

The experience can also bring forward long-forgotten memories or unresolved emotional material, sometimes reaching back to early childhood. By illuminating these patterns with clarity and compassion, Huachuma can facilitate insight, healing, and a sense of closure. People frequently describe a renewed sense of wonder—“like being a child again”—encountering life without the usual filters or mental overlays.

Carried by Maestro Ramiro with reverence and respect for its traditional Andean roots, his Huachuma ceremonies are designed to bring a heartfelt clarity, understanding and communal connection.

Our Time Together

On Saturday, we will gather during the day for the Huachuma ceremony. Held atop a beautiful mountain in upper Ojai, this journey allows space for reflection, connection, and inner exploration as the medicine gently opens perception and the heart. As the day transitions into evening, we will come together around the fire to offer prayers—an opportunity to consciously release, express gratitude, and integrate what has arisen during the journey.

On Sunday morning, we will close our time with a traditional Andean despacho ritual —a ceremonial offering to come together as community to offer prayers for mother earth, each other, and to offer our gratitude to the sacred spirits of the land and mountains where we'll gather to pray.

A despacho is a collective prayer bundle, created with natural and symbolic elements such as flowers, seeds, sweets, and leaves. Each participant takes part by placing their prayers into the offering—often by gently blowing their intentions into leaves before adding them to the bundle. In this way, the ritual becomes a space to pray not only for oneself, but also for loved ones, community, and the wider web of life.

Rooted in the principle of ayni—the Quechua word for sacred reciprocity—the despacho brings us into right relationship with the natural and unseen world. Once complete, it is ceremonially offered to the fire—releasing these prayers and bringing a sense of completion, grounding, and integration to the journey we have shared.

 Testimonials

Working with Robin and Alicia has been more beneficial to me than years of therapy; through recognizing old patterns that keep me stuck, connecting with, processing, and releasing deep emotions, and helping me see the pure light we all possess. While it is each individual who must walk the path to healing, their insights, support, and vast experience are invaluable along the way. I look forward to continuing this path with them.

Robin provides a safe, nurturing container for deep healing to occur. He offers so much love and warmth to each participant in the ceremonies, and I have found him to be someone that embodies maximum integrity in his work and his commitment to carrying the Mahua lineage forward. I recommend him most warmly.

I want to share that Robin is an absolute loving, caring, genuine human being who puts so much effort, care and dedication into meeting the needs of all the participants. He’s a 100% heart and a true pleasure to be in presence with.

Alicia is amazing in her skill and capacity in bringing the group field into a focused, intentional vibration, to bringing the group field to its edge, and to really pull out that essence of dedicated transparency and vulnerability. Together, they really create a space where we can drop into the depth of the work.

Through this work, I was able to really get to some core truths and follow that path the whole way down instead of getting stuck at my inner blocks like I have so many times before.

 — Meggie S.

The retreat helped me to see my truth and live my truth by showing me hidden things that needed attention, - and where I still need to do some homework."
