A Master Plant Sama (Dieta):Â Â
A Samá or plant dieta serves as an initiation into the mystery school of the "Rao Nete," the realm of plant spirits. It is a communion with the natural forces of the world—a time marked by inner stillness and deep listening. During these moments, the subtle forces of nature become more apparent, and the deeper call of the plants is heard from within.
Samá is an ancient earth technology in which the plant spirit transmits its knowledge both to and through you. This occurs through transformative shifts in behavior and diet. It is a period dedicated to creating a conscious, sacred space—one nurtured by solitude, abstinence, ascetic practices, and a more restricted diet. These adjustments foster an attuned and receptive state, allowing the messages of the plants and spirit to emerge with clarity.
This sacred journey invites contemplation of life changes, exploration of new directions, and a space for collective grieving and growth. During a plant dieta, that which is hidden is revealed and personal shadows are illuminated. It is often said, “en la dieta está la curación” — “the healing is in the dieta” — emphasizing that healing extends beyond the plants to the self, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual layers.
Noticing the emotional currents that arise during the deeper stages of the dieta is essential—this is where profound healing begins. The plants help to remind us that love is intrinsic to human nature. Yet sometimes, a journey through the dark night of the soul is necessary before the light of awareness reemerges.
These challenging moments reveal what one is truly made of—times of vulnerability that also bring about a deeply felt aliveness. In the end, the plants root us back into communion with the sacredness of all life.

Dieting Bobinsana
Dieting Bobinsana can feel a little like coming home.
This plant is often associated with qualities of play, tenderness, love, receptivity, and the natural sense of belonging many of us remember from childhood—before we learned to protect ourselves, perform for acceptance, silence what we felt, or withdraw from the places where it no longer felt safe to be fully expressed.
Bobinsana invites a softening of the heart and a purification of the emotional body. And as the heart begins to soften, we may also encounter the protective layers that have formed around it: the defenses, habits, fears, and forms of dissociation that keep us from fully feeling, participating, and showing up for life.
The work is not simply about becoming more open.
It is about becoming more present.
And from that presence, something else can begin to emerge:
The Voice.
One of the beautiful dimensions of working with Bobinsana is its relationship to voice, song, prayer, and authentic expression.
Within Amazonian plant-dieta traditions, plants are sometimes understood to teach through dreams, visions, prayer, and song. Dieteros may experience songs arising spontaneously or feel a deepening relationship with the voice as an instrument of prayer and connection.
In this way, voice activation is not simply about learning to sing.
It is about becoming available to what wants to move through you.
The voice may begin to feel less defended, more emotionally truthful, more prayerful, more spontaneous, and more connected to the heart.
Many of us learned very early to inhibit the voice.
We learned which emotions were acceptable to express.
We learned when it was safer to remain quiet.
We learned to swallow anger, hide grief, suppress desire, minimize joy, soften our truth, or shape our words around what other people were willing to hear.
Over time, the voice can become separated from the deeper self.
We may still speak—but not always from the place that is most alive within us.
Bobinsana invites us to explore that separation.
As protective layers begin to loosen, emotions that have been held in the body may become more available to expression: grief, tenderness, longing, devotion, joy, anger, love.
And as the heart becomes more available, the voice can become more available too.
The invitation is not necessarily to become louder.
It is to become truer.
To discover the sound that emerges when we are no longer speaking primarily from performance, protection, expectation, or fear.
Heart, Throat, and Expression
Voice activation can be understood as a movement between the heart and the throat.
Something is felt, listened to, and allowed to move.
And through that movement comes a sound.
It may come through humming, toning, spontaneous song, prayer, crying, laughter, chanting, or simply allowing the breath and voice to move without knowing where they are going.
The dieta may invite:
-
a deeper relationship between heart and throat
-
greater freedom around being heard, seen, and emotionally exposed
-
a softening of the fear of judgment
-
increased trust in spontaneous sound and song
-
greater emotional honesty in communication
-
a deeper relationship with prayer and devotion
-
greater receptivity to creativity and inspiration
-
the courage to express what has previously been held back
But perhaps most importantly, Bobinsana invites listening.
Because opening the voice is not only about making sound.
It is also about becoming quiet enough to hear.
Â
To listen for what genuinely wants to be spoken, sung, prayed, cried, whispered, or offered.
In this sense, the activation of the voice begins with receptivity.
We listen before we sing.
We feel before we speak.
We receive before we offer.
The voice then becomes less about trying to be heard and more about becoming available to what is asking to move through us.
A song.
A prayer.
A truth we have been afraid to say.
A grief that finally has sound.
A joy that wants to be expressed.
A part of ourselves that has been waiting a very long time to be heard.
There is a difference between performing a song and allowing a song to become prayer.
One asks, How do I sound?
The other asks, What am I offering?
Part of the invitation of this dieta is to explore that distinction.
The voice does not have to be beautiful to be medicine.
It does not have to be trained.
It does not have to impress anyone.
It only needs to become honest.
When the need to perform begins to soften, the voice can become an instrument of presence.
A way of expressing devotion.
A way of moving emotion.
A way of communicating with life.
A way of giving form to something that previously existed only inside us.
And perhaps this is one of the deeper teachings of voice activation. Â
Recognizing the places where we have withdrawn, silenced ourselves, or stopped fully participating in life.
At its heart, this dieta becomes an invitation to soften what has become defended, listen beneath habit and fear, and rediscover the voice that emerges when the heart is allowed to speak.
Not the performed voice.
Not the perfected voice.
But the living voice that remembers how to pray.

The Integrative Journey of this Dieta
Throughout this urban Dieta, we have integrated a body of work focused on the deep, healing, and transformative power of forgiveness—an essential element of both inner awakening and our collective journey toward wholeness.
True forgiveness begins with the quiet acceptance of oneself—a compassionate confrontation with the beautiful imperfection that is our nature. It is not enough to merely hold the thought of forgiveness. We are called to step boldly into the terrain of our inner victim, perpetrator, and rescuer, rewriting the stories that have long kept us bound to our past wounds. This transformative work is a roadmap for healing, inviting us to re-visit and gently release the karmic ties and deep-seated beliefs that have reinforced old patterns of suffering.
Through thoughtful journaling and reflective exercises that will be led by Alicia Marie, you will compose a personal letter of forgiveness. A cathartic, soul-to-soul dialogue that is not meant to be sent to anyone, but serves as a sacred conversation between who you are, who you aspire to become and perhaps someone whom you have yet to make peace with. With each word, you dismantle the lingering tendrils of unresolved hurt, allowing a resilient inner light to emerge—like the flower that blossoms in the shade, quietly reclaiming its space.
This practice of forgiveness is both deeply personal and inherently communal—a devotional act that becomes a collective prayer for healing. It calls upon us to embrace compassion and empathy for ourselves and others, transforming each moment into an opportunity for inner liberation. As the plant spirits gently remind us of life’s interconnectedness, forgiveness unfolds as a quiet act of liberation and a courageous return to the self. In doing so, we reclaim our personal power and pave the way for a more expansive, radiant future.
Embrace this invitation to journey into self-forgiveness and extend forgiveness to others—a practice that transforms individual lives and reshapes the very fabric of our shared human experience.

 Testimonials
I have now attended four retreats with Robin and Alicia, and I could not feel more lucky to be able to work with them. The different gifts they each possess allow them to see individuals in their unique light. They hold space to help process those things we all have hidden within us in order for us to self-actualize.
Working with Robin and Alicia has been more beneficial to me than years of therapy; through recognizing old patterns that keep me stuck, connecting with, processing, and releasing deep emotions, and helping me see the pure light we all possess. While it is each individual who must walk the path to healing, their insights, support, and vast experience are invaluable along the way. I look forward to continuing this path with them.
 — Lynn C.
Everything was leading up to this and now I have a duty to take it forward and make the best of it that I can. That this longing for more wasn’t for more of the pleasures of earth, it was for more love, more light, more knowledge.
Robin and Alicia are real family to me now. They exemplify what it means to be on this path, to really work on yourself, to be willing to go there, to face the hard things, the challenges and to come out stronger.Â
Through this work, I was able to really get to some core truths and follow that path the whole way down instead of getting stuck at my inner blocks like I have so many times before.
 — Meggie S.
The retreat helped me to see my truth and live my truth by showing me hidden things that needed attention, - and where I still need to do some homework."
